My virtual medical journey

I wasn’t always a medical virtual assistant. I started at the front desk of a busy clinic.

I checked patients in, answered phones, managed appointments, handled insurance queries, and dealt with everything that landed on the front desk before the doctor saw a patient.

That job taught me something important.

The administrative side for running a medical facility is just as important as everything else. A missed prior authorization, an unverified insurance claim, or a scheduling error can torpedo a patient’s experience before it begins.

Then COVID-19 happened.

Like a lot of people, I found myself rethinking everything. Healthcare was at the center of the world, and I watched clinics and private practices struggle — not just with patients, but with the administrative weight that came with a system under enormous pressure.

I wanted to be useful. So I made the move.

I trained as a medical virtual assistant, earned my HIPAA certification, and built a working knowledge of clinical operations — scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, EHR management, billing follow-up, and more.

The front desk gave me the foundation. The training gave me the tools. Now I bring both to every practice I work with.

Since then, I have:

  • Coordinated patient scheduling for solo practices and reduced no-show rates by up to 30%
  • Processed prior authorizations that previously sat unresolved for 3 to 5 days
  • Handled insurance verification workflows that reduced claim denials by 25%
  • Managed EHR data entry with zero compliance incidents across all engagements
  • Supported telehealth sessions for physicians seeing 15 to 20 patients per week

With my experience, having me in your corner handling administration work will translate to fewer headaches for your practice and a smoother experience for your patients.

It’s an anagram

Think of it as how I manage the administrative side of your practice — thoroughly, compliantly, and without dropping the ball. Here is a breakdown:

  • C — Coordinate — I organize your scheduling, patient communications, and appointment follow-ups so your calendar runs predictably.
  • H — Handle Compliance — I am a stickler for following HIPAA guidelines. That way, your patient data is safe and your practice audit-ready.
  • A — Authorize — I chase prior authorizations, verify insurance, and follow up on pending approvals so nothing sits in a queue for days.
  • R — Resolve Billing Issues — I track denied claims, follow up on outstanding balances, and make sure your revenue cycle does not stall.
  • T — Track and Report — I monitor your administrative workflows and flag anything that needs your attention before it turns into a bigger problem.
